Slade Gorton: a name that’s withstood the test of time.
Thomas Slade Gorton, Jr. began his career at age fourteen as a fisherman’s apprentice aboard schooners that fished on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. He was the third generation of Gortons committed to the seafood industry, and learned first-hand that quality seafood is a result of careful attention to harvesting and handling. Slade also believed in giving customers who bought his catch the best service possible. In 1928, this aspiring businessman founded Slade Gorton based on his commitment to provide quality seafood and superior service.
We are proud of our legacy as the original Gorton family who made its start in the seafood business in 1849. We are humbled by our role in such a complex and meaningful industry, and committed to operating our business with integrity and passion in order to help our customers succeed in ensuring a positive dining experience for the American consumer.
Caught in the waters of the Southern Hemisphere, Chilean sea bass is a prized fish in the United States as well as in many Asian countries where there is growing affluence. Sea bass, in fact, is not limited to Chile.
