Executive Team

  • Mike Gorton, Sr.Chairman

    Mike has dedicated his entire career to the continued development of Slade Gorton. Under his leadership, the company has experienced substantial growth in distribution and product offering and emerged as a leader and benchmark for sustainability and best practices in the industry. Mike is an active member of the seafood industry community, as well as the community at large. He serves on the boards of numerous companies focused on the responsible growth of the fishing industry as a whole, including the National Fisheries Institute and Proteus Industries. His personal affiliations range from The Home for Little Wanderers, a Boston-based children’s organization, to the Dedham Tennis Club. He is also an active Dartmouth alumnus, serving as both an Executive Committee member and a class agent. Mike represents the second generation of Gortons at Slade Gorton.

  • Kimberly GortonPresident & CEO

    Carrying on the Gorton family legacy, Kim represents the third generation of Gortons at Slade Gorton and the fifth generation of Gortons in the industry. After joining the Company in 1989 as a key account manager, she left her position to obtain an MBA from Harvard Business School. Since returning to the Company in 1994, Kim has held positions in marketing, business development and corporate planning. Experiencing the business from all sides helped to prepare Kim for her current role leading the Company. Kim’s passion for the business is evident in the leadership role Slade Gorton has taken in driving positive industry change in sustainability, food safety, economic integrity and innovation. She serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the National Fisheries Institute, as well as on the Boards of The Gulf of Maine Research Institute and North Atlantic, Inc. She is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization.

  • Michael RichardChief Operating Officer

    Prior to joining Slade Gorton as COO, Michael served as the Director of Business Management for Glitnir Bank in the U.S. for nearly three years. In this role he led and participated in the execution of both corporate credit and corporate finance activities in the seafood, food and renewable energy sectors. Michael was directly involved in M&A and credit transactions including Icicle Seafoods, American Seafood Group, Bumble Bee, Arctic Storm and Clearwater Seafoods. Prior to Glitnir he spent over 15 years in the food and agribusiness industries in a strategic advisory position with The Hale Group, Ltd., a management consultancy with a focus on global supply chain work. He also led the food and agribusiness team at Ariba, Inc. a business-to-business sourcing and supply chain company. Michael received a B.S. from Iowa State University and completed graduate degree work at Harvard University.
