About Slade Gorton

In 1928, this aspiring businessman founded Slade Gorton & Co. based on his commitment to provide quality seafood and superior service.

Today, Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. continues to be a family-owned business with staff including second and third generation Gortons. In supporting these relationships, we maintain our commitment to providing our customers with the greatest total value in a wide line of commodity and value-added seafood products and innovative services. Such an effort better meets the competitive challenges faced by key customer segments, which is why many consider Slade Gorton to be their long-term partner and primary seafood supplier.

Thomas Slade Gorton, Jr. began his career at age fourteen as a fisherman's apprentice aboard schooners that fished on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. He learned first-hand that quality seafood is a result of careful attention to harvesting and handling. Young Slade also believed in giving customers who bought his catch the best service possible.
